I wish I could some how put into words how great chocolate makes me feel. Chocolate can be such a warm, inviting, spiritual moment in time. Great Chocolate can be hard to come by, but once you have found it, average chocolate will no longer do.
I love searching the earth far and wide in my quest to find the best chocolate ever. I think I have come very close to ending my quest here with.....
At Cocoa Dolce Artisan Chocolates, they believe in following their own path. Leading, rather than following where others might go. Innovating instead of replicating the successful formulas others might embrace. Because they grow from the heartland, they set their own standards, scouring the world for its finest ingredients, but adding to them an independent spirit evident in every sensual, decadent chocolate experience we create. Unconstrained from preconceptions or compromise, they are free to celebrate the unique blend of creativity passion and playfulness that gives Cocoa Dolce a flavor all its own.
Cocoa Dolce provided me with an amazing selection of their chocolate confections to fall in love with and review. Plus they are offering one of my bloggy friends the chance to enjoy $50 worth of there life altering Cocoa Dolce Chocolates.
Cocoa Dolce's newest Seasonal Offering to the Chocolate Gods is their playful but complex "Bake Sale". This little box is truly a work of art from the old fashioned looking wrapper to the eye and palette pleasing chocolates that await inside. Listen to these fun, simple names Sour Cherry Pie, Lemon Cheesecake, Blueberry Pie, Key Lime Pie, Sweet Potato Pie and Chocolate Pecan Pie. Don't let these whimsical names fool you. Each and every piece of "pie" packs a flavorful punch that you will soon never forget.
I am concerned continuously saying, "I have never had anything like this before"...but it is true. Cocoa Dolce Mallomars are a texturally, visually, flavorful experience. I was surprised at how large each of the flavored (Tahitian vanilla, caramel creme and sour cherry) Mallomars were. The inside from bottom up..started off grainy in a pleasant sense of artisan graham crackers(with a nice hint of spices like cinnamon) next a perfect made firm and sweet marshmallow which was topped with the corresponding flavor. The sour cherry was my favorite out of this assortment. I enjoyed the huge contrast of sweetness with the natural tart flavor of sour cherries.
I want to say that I am a huge caramel fan and Cocoa Dolce did not fail to excite my palette with their gourmet Grey Salt Caramels. The Gray Salt played a huge roll in this savory, sweet treat. The soft creamy caramel that greeted me with each and every bite through the dark chocolate was so buttery. I was able to taste the vanilla and brown sugar used to create the caramel. I need to get some more of these. Delicious!
I am going to share my husband's thoughts on Cocoa Dolce's Dark Chocolate Covered Handmade Vanilla Bean Marshmallows. He was pleased at how large each gourmet treat was. The dark chocolate helped balance out the sweetness of the firm, moist and spongy vanilla bean marshmallows. He informed me that we are NOT to run out of these anytime soon. Looks like I won't get to enjoy any of these.
The moment I laid eyes on Cocoa Dolce's Cocoa Lover 18 piece box of confections, I knew something magical would be inside. The box was beautifully sealed with elegant colored ribbon. The ribbon was attached by an old fashioned wax seal with Cocoa Dolce's initials. You know a business has great pride when they have such a passion for the small details. 18 pieces, where do I begin. Let me say first of all, this is NOT your typical chocolate assortment. It includes flavors like Burnt Caramel, Cinnamon-orange, Creme Brulee, Mayan and Strawberry Balsamic to name a few.
I love Balsamic vinegar and when I saw the Strawberry Balsamic I had to try it first. I started off by cutting the chocolate in half. My nose was greeted with the sharp aroma from the balsamic vinegar. I couldn't wait to try it. What a flavor experience. The sharp but sweet balsamic married beautifully with the creamy white chocolate butter ganache and early glow strawberry. What a unique combination...and I loved it.
The Lemon was eye catching with its bright yellow and white colors. I was able to tell a huge difference that fresh lemon was used to create this sweet confection. This creamy treat melted in my mouth. The outer shell is hand-painted. Like I said Cocoa Dolce has the attention to detail!

Break off a piece of the chocolate. You should hear a distinctive snap. This is the sound of a well-tempered chocolate. Also, hold a piece of the chocolate between your fingers and notice how quickly it melts. Rub your fingers together to test its smoothness. Cocoa butter melts more quickly than sugar, so the higher the proportion of cocoa butter, the more quickly it will melt.
