FEBRUARY IS POTATO LOVER'S MONTH....
And Frieda's wants to make sure one lucky person celebrates this spudtacular month in gourmet style.
Before I tell you all about this Fantastic and Colorful Giveaway...
Let me start by thanking Frieda's for sending out the freshest, cleanest, colorful dainty potatoes I have ever seen before....
To be honest I have seen similar "cute" potatoes in the past, but have never purchased them. I had the attitude that all potatoes were basically the same. "HAD" is the key word....I no longer think or peel feel that way!!
Frieda's Assorted Gourmet Fingerling Potatoes are Grown for flavor and hand-selected from fields high in the Colorado Rockies (not far from where I am located), Frieda's only chooses the "cream of the crop" varieties for their delicious assortment, including the rich and buttery Russian Banana, the red-streaked French Fingerling with a nutty, hazelnut flavor and the earthy, sweet Ruby Crescent. Prized for their ability to soak up the flavors they are cooked in.
I was so excited to figure out how to use this fresh produce from Frieda's. As I know from personal experience in the past with Frieda's Pearl Onions.....The only sell the best!
My mind raced with ideas. I also checked out Frieda's website as they share some of the best recipes.
I wanted to make sure whatever I decided, did not cover up the natural flavors of these blemish free Gourmet Fingerling Potatoes. I decided on my delicious and wholesome slow cooker pot roast and veggies.
My recipe is very simple and flavorful....Large pot roast, 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 1 can cream of celery soup, 1 cup cold water, 1 package of dry beef soup mix and Lots of fresh garlic. Mix all the ingredients and pour over roast. Add in any veggies you would like to enjoy. I always add potatoes, celery, carrots and onions. This time I added Frieda's Gourmet Fingerling Potatoes and their pearl onions! I left the Fingerlings whole for added eye appeal.
Put it on low for 8 to 10 hours and forget about it!
I was impressed on how well the potatoes held up and each potato still show cased its unqiue flavor profile. I will never look at a potato the same again. My boys LOVED them!!! They fought over who was going to get the craziest shaped potato...the littlest...the last red colored one....I could go on and on.
So who want to enjoy their own bag of Frieda's Assorted Gourmet Fingerling Potatoes???
Okay, I heard a bunch of yes's....but how about not only those potatoes...BUT....
Not just a collection of original recipes, THE PURPLE KIWI COOKBOOK features 128 pages of full-color recipes, photos, tips and useful information on some of the world's most exotic fruits and vegetables.
