Julian Bakery's Mission: "to bring healthy and delicious breads to everyone".
Believe it or not the owner of the Julian Bakery is a nutritionist. She has designed Julian's Bakery breads to have all the amino acids (proteins that are essential for life) in every slice. They grind their organic grains in a stone mill before baking, preventing rancid flour, while achieving more flavor and more nutrition. Just like the same concept as fresh ground coffee. All of their main grains are organically grown, free of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. It is safe for children. All of their sourdough yeast free breads are cultured (the same concept as yogurt). They are easier to digest, contribute to the friendly flora of our intestines, and are a low stress food (providing predigested released nutrients from the culturing process).
I think most of us don't really consider the importance bread plays in our daily lives. How many slices did you have today, all week, all month? Julian Bakery is helping make bread an extremely healthy experience without losing the enjoyment, variety and flavor.
Julian Bakery sent me three of their nutritious breads to review and are offered one of my lucky bloggy friends 6 loaves of their own!!
I first sampled Julian Bakery Amazing Sourdough bread. It is low calorie and low carb, making it ideal for any diet! This amazing 60 calorie per slice bread has only 4 net carbs per slice combined with 5g of protein.
This bread was the most beautiful tan color. Each slice was big and the top was covered in seeds. I enjoyed toasting the Amazing Sourdough, it really brought out the flavor and made the seeds on top really pop with nuttiness. The bread itself was moist and had a lot of texture. It was very filling.
It was Rated #1 the Best Low Carb Bread of 2011 / Recommended By Devin Alexander Who makes meals for the “Biggest Loser”.
If you’re on a low carb diet, looking to maintain your weight or lose extra weight, then this bread is ideal for you. Smart Carb #1 Bread only has 1 Net Carb per slice!
This very good for you bread had a very hearty texture and was not dry. Each slice was nice sized and still filling, without all those carbs.
Smart Carb #2 (Cinnamon Raisin)
This Smart Carb bread is like a dessert! The raisins were nice and moist. The cinnamon flavor was perfect and could even be smelled through the bag. What a healhty treat.
