So, back to these beautiful and creative one of a kind pieces of functional art.  Most of the concepts were born out of a need to make lives organized and less stressful (It is like they were reading my mind!!).  The love of color and design has inspired many of creations that are for sale. Oooops, I wanted to start out by showing you how they arrived.  It felt and looked like Christmas!

Now on to all the useful and perfect gift items I received and I might add....LOVE!!!

Inspirational Collage Art - Jade's Menagerie offers so many choices but I selected the Sea Turtle Collage Wood Block Art to hang in my boy's room. It measures 5 1/2″x6″x1 1/2″ deep.

I like the bright hand painted colors and added details (like glittery circles, mesh-like additions and even something that looks feathery - but remember each piece is one of a kind) with the raised turtle picture.  

I like how light weight this piece of art is and that it comes with a hanger, already in place.   

It is wide enough that this art work could be set somewhere for decoration too.  The hand signed back is a great added touch.

The Abaca Leaf Business Card Holder (but many other designs are available)....

Is very sturdy and stands out with the shimmery colors.  I am in awe on how the little extra touches like the textured paper that is used as the background and the rustic underlay of materials on part of the front design adds to the charm and uniqueness.  Plus 80% is recycled paper products!  So eco-friendly here I come.

Another successful and usable handmade product.  The gold colored western items actually are 3-D and stand out above the mediums used below it: including feathery fabric, colored cardboard like star and multi colored paper underneath.  I can't wait to use this at the store and wait for all the compliments.

First, isn't this just fun?  I thought so.  I love the size of this hand made wallet (9″x4 1/2″). What a great idea and concept as we all need to keep our vehicle insurance and registration together in our cars. 

I am in heaven with the Washi Dragonfly Password Book!

Who ever came up with this book needs a hug and a kiss.  With the technology age....this is such a needed addition.  Now I can keep all my passwords together and even find them quickly with the easy to flip tabs.

Mastrad Ice Pop Molds Giveaway / Review Just in time for Flu and Cold Season

Well, as I type this review and giveaway, I can speak from personal experience cold and flu season is making it rounds already.  Uggg!  My middle son is sick with the upper respiratory junk, which is making his throat soooo sore. 

Thank heavens, I was blessed with the opportunity to review and giveaway a set of 2 Mastrad Ice-Pop Molds.

Let me tell you making homemade ice-pops has never been so easy.

The design of these silicon ice pop molds are user friendly and super simple to fill.

Just stand the ice mold up.

Remove the top with the stick.

And make sure the silicone flap on the side is snapped into place. 

Then pour your favorite liquid in for freezing.  Wait approximately 5 hours and your fresh frozen Ice pop will be ready.

Take the frozen treat out of the freezer....and...

Flip open the silicone flap as it make it easy for the ice pop to come out of the tube.  Then turn the mold over - as you can see by the above photo.  Place your thumb in that indentation and push.

Out comes a perfectly formed ice pop to enjoy.  You can also remove the stick portion before freezing and make a push up pop that can be enjoyed straight out of the silicone sleeve.

We use pre-bought juice to make our delicious ice pop mold treats, but the possibilities are endless.  I think our next endeavor is frozen pudding pops.  Yum.

But, I must stay my son enjoyed his Mastrad Ice Pop today while home sick.

Okay here is another question...Does Olive Oil make you think of sweet or savory recipes?

 

I think most of us think of savory recipes.  Which makes my mouth start drooling when I think about my homemade clams and noodles.  They are full of garlic, olive oil, clams and long noodle.  Yum!

 

But one of my favorite recipes that uses a lot of Olive Oil is my Morning Glory Muffins.  I was so thankful years ago when I found this recipe on Allrecipes.com and then made it my own with a few adjustments.

 

Like I said my Morning Glory Muffin uses a lot of Olive Oil.  And if you have cooked/baked with olive oil in the past, I think you realize how important it is to select the right type and brand to make your recipes come to life.

 

One of my new favorites is Pompeian Extra Virgin Olive Olive.

 

And when I received my free kit, I knew exactly what recipe I was going to create!

Okay, here is my recipe and I hope you will enjoy it.  Don't forget to make it your own and add extras or take away something you don't like.  I love the versatility and I am always improving it to our tastes and likes.

Morning Glory Muffins

Ingredients:


1 cup all-purpose and 1 cup wheat flour

1 1/4 cups white sugar

2 teaspoons baking soda

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 cups shredded carrots

1/2 cup raisins or Currents (I love the tartness Currents add)

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

1/2 cup sweetened flaked coconut

1 apple - peeled, cored and shredded

3 eggs

1 cup Pompeian Extra Virgin Olive Oil

2 teaspoons vanilla extract


Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease 12 muffin cups, or line with paper muffin liners.

In a large bowl, mix together flours, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.

Stir in the carrot, raisins (currents), nuts, coconut, and apple.

In a separate bowl, beat together eggs, Pompeian Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and vanilla.

Stir egg/olive oil/vanilla mixture into the carrot/flour mixture, until moistened.

Scoop batter into prepared muffin cups (I like to use a cookie scoop as it makes it much easier and cleaner filling the cups).

Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of a muffin comes out clean.

Winter Storm Warning on October 4! Really? I need some Zone Heating!

I thought it was Autumn...isn't it?  But could the weather forecast be correct? 

I kept telling myself they have got to be wrong it is only October 4th tomorrow.  But, being the responsible mother I found myself digging way back it my boys closet to find the hats, snow boots, gloves and winter jackets that were put away over six long months ago.

Right now it is rainy and a balmy 44 degrees tonight (10-3-13) and tomorrow our weather is suppose to be colder. 

And not only colder, but snowy and the wind is suppose to be blowing terribly strong.  We stand a chance to get ten inches of heavy wet snow.  Did I mention it is only the beginning of October?!

I know there has been talk of an above average cold and snowy winter through much of the USA this season.  But, if we are going to start our snow season this early (I will up date later with snow photos if it finally arrives), I feel like a child growing up in the heartland.

I have memories of my parents having to start up our ancient heating system when the snow began to fly.  It was always such a big deal to turn the heat on for the first time.  Oh, the heat!  Some areas of the house were hot like the surface of the sun.  Other areas reminding me of standing in front of the freezer with the door open.  So how many of you can relate?

Thank goodness my children aren't going to have those lovely heater related memories.  They are going to have memories of playing in the fun, fresh snow.  Memories of coming inside their warm home and settling down with a warm mug of cocoa.

PB Crave Choco Choco was delightfully smooth, rich and creamy. It is very easy to spread. The tiny chocolate chips just melt in your mouth and incorporate into the peanut butter like a dream. I enjoyed the hint of salt in the background. It helped mellow out some of the sweetness.

I was smiling when I opened the safety sealed jar of PB Crave CoCo Bananas. The smell of fresh bananas greeted my nose and the nose of my boys. They figured out what I was up to in the kitchen and couldn't wait for their samples of "fun peanut butter".

I could feel my corner of my lip start to twitch as I stirred up all the banana goodness. I felt Elvis's presence...I know he would love CoCo Bananas! Peanut butter, wild honey, chocolate and natural banana flavors. Yum! This is my favorite to enjoy in moderation as it is very rich and sweet.

I know what a fun and crazy name....PB Crave Cookie Nookie. There is no doubt why PB Crave selected this name. First of all the color of Cookie Nookie reminds me of my homemade chocolate chip cookie dough. The aroma made me envision a chocolate chip cookie with a splash of peanut butter in the dough. Another success, especially according to my oldest son. He kept asking for more Cookie Nookie to enjoy with fresh strawberries.

The PB Crave Razzle Dazzle had the strongest fruit flavor, aroma and thickness. It was chocked full of white and dark chocolate which married perfectly with the natural raspberry flavor, wild honey and premium peanut butter. I can't wait to make peanut butter balls of this coated in dark chocolate or just plain on a nice warm piece of toast.

As you can see by my photos, everyone in our house enjoyed all the flavors of PB Crave for dipping with shortbread cookies and strawberries. What a perfect and healthy evening snack.

I think my top 3 recipes would have to be to.....

Lettuce Wraps (How simple and they sound amazing!  All you need is Michelina’s Chicken Fried Rice, Iceburg Lettuce and Soy Sauce and Sriracha Sauce if you like.)

Michelina’s Gyro (This is a little more complex but I think would be worth your little bit of extra time.  For this recipe you would need Michelina’s Ziti Parmesano, Pita bread, mushrooms, pepperoni slices ( I plan on trying turkey pepperoni  for less calories) and if you like…parmesan cheese.)

Stuffed Peppers (This has only two ingredients but take 15 to 20 minutes to prepare.  (The two ingredients are Michelina’s Sweet & Sour Chicken and bell peppers!)
