Go Max Go Foods 6 Candy Bars ( Vegan and Nothing Artificial) Giveaway / Review $15 Value

A company that got it name from a "pound puppy" that became a part of their family for 16 1/2 years...

I had to learn more!  I knew in my heart that there was something special and free spirited about such a family owned and operated business.  A family that cheered "Go Max Go" to their four legged friend....who taught them to be tenacious and chase after a dream....

So this Vegan, US based, family owned busines began and was fittingly named...

Let me start by saying, don't be turned off by the word Vegan if you chose not to be part of this lifestyle.  I know personally, we are not practicing Vegan's, but being a foodie has open my horizons.  I like to be free spirited myself and not to shy away from the new and unknown things.  Just because you have not experienced something food related from a different culture, food style or choice; doesn't mean you should fear what you have not tried.  It means you need to meet it head on and see what makes these foods enjoyed by many.

So be brave (and crave the Go Max Go Foods line of sweets) and learn more with me as I describe my food journey with the samples of all 6 Candy Bar Varieties from Go Max Go Foods I received. (They are amazing!!!  I would never have guessed in my wildest dreams there are Vegan).  And Enter for your chance to win 6 of these candy bars to enjoy yourself.

Before I began my adventure, did you know all Go Max Go Candy Bars are Dairy Free, Contain nothing artificial, No Cholesterol, No Hydrogenated Oils and No trans fat?  Well, they are and still some how (almost magically) are full of sweet goodness that leave you wanting another.

I am going to start with my favorite Go Max Go Foods Candy Bar....

Twilight (no just just for its name..you vampire junkies)
Caramel, Chocolatey nougat coated in a rice-milk chocolatey coating.  YUM!!!  The caramel was nice a firm, but not hard.  It added a great chew to this sweet treat.  It was not too sweet and the coating was smooth.  I reminded me of a milky way.

My middle son absolutely loved the Mahalo

How could you go wrong with this candy bar....coconut, almonds enrobed in a rice-milk chocolatey coating?  You can't!  It was like a almond joy with a delightful make over.  I was pleased it was not over the top sweet.  At times coconut can have the effect....But, Go Max Go Foods found the balance.  The almonds placed on top were crunchy and perfect.  I love that the coating was very light on this candy bar, letting the natural coconut flavor shine through.

My second favorite and close to a tie with my number one was Cleo's Peanut Butter Cups.
I appreciated how Go Max Go Foods did not individually package the peanut butter cups.  I think that shows restrain and helps to not waste with unnecessary packaging.  The creamy, silky peanut butter inside was so fresh and slightly salty.  It married with the rice-milk chocolatey coating.  Now if it only came in a King Size package.

My oldest son raved over the Buccaneer.

Chocolatey nougat wrapped in a rice-milk chocolately coating.  It reminded me of a three musketeer only sweeter.  This candy bar was nice a soft and with a smooth nougat.

Jokerz
Caramel, peanuts, nougat covered in rice-milk chocolately coating.  The candy bar was beautiful to look at inside.  The top layer of caramel was nice and chewy, but not hard.  It was very buttery, reminding me of butterscotch.  The peanuts tasted fresh and had a nice crunch.  It was similar to a snickers, but the caramel made it stand above and beyond.

Snap!

What a great name and so fitting.  This is a simple crisped rice in a rice-milk chocolately coating.  Very tasty.

Now...have I changed your mind about trying new foods??
If so, it is a "snap" to enter below to win some Go Max Go Foods Candy Bars of your own.

I can't wait to try the Red New Potatoes from Tomorrow's Organics in CA in my smashed potato recipe that incorporates fragrant garlic and light olive oil.

The two bunches of Romaine Lettuce from Earthbound Organic Farm in Carmel Valley, CA was enjoyed by everyone in a healthy salad.  This Romaine was so crisp and fresh.  It truly was the star!
The bunch of fresh Oregano from Savory Sensations in Woodstock, IL was like perfume.  Its aroma was so powerfully beautiful.  I can't wait to try it in my homemade pasta sauce.

And now my husband is wondering when I am going to make homemade cornmeal muffins, since The FruitGuys also included a fresh bag of Fine-ground white cornmeal from The Sisters Garden in Kankakee, IL.

I must admit I have never prepared beets before today.  The Red Baby Beets from Coke Farm in San Juan Bautista, CA were beauties.  I wore gloves to prevent my hands from staining.  I peeled this tender veggies and sliced them before placing them in boiling water.  I was in awe how beautiful the slices of beet were.
We enjoyed them with a little salt and pepper....perfect!

K2 ROCKER SKIS

K2 ROCKER SKIS

Thanks for the guest post by Jo Levy

I spent a lot of time doing research on-line using our covington clear 4g internet connection. I was trying to find my husband and new pair of skis for his birthday. We take a ski tripevery year out West. He used to live out there after college and is a really great skier. Now is just about the time when everyone is having their end of the season sales. Not knowing a lot about the new ski technology, I had to spend a lot of time looking through the different types and different on-line retailers. I relied a lot of skimag.com. They posted YouTube reviews of different skis that they tested. I finally decided on the type of ski that I wanted to get him. I wanted to get him a ski that had the new rocker technology. The contact point of the ski is shorter, so it makes turning easier. The ski will still have the advantage of a long ski ( so you can go as fast as you like). I can’t wait for him to check out the new K2 Rockers that I got him. I think that he is going to love them!

A Little Angel called home 3 years ago yesterday....

A Little Angel watching over all of us.....

It is amazing  how slowly but quickly the last 3 years have went.  Many tears have been shed and also in return the smiles have found there way back into our lives.  Remembering the moments we had with KK, a special and loving child who was called back to God at the young age of 5.
They brought KK cute suckers to celebrate her life yesterday.
The visits to her grave has gotten a little easier with the smiles now out numbering the sobs.  We always talk about the life lasting memories....she loved the colors pink and purple....she LOVED candy any time of the day or night....she loved to scare her Pre-school teacher with rubber snakes (I am laughing and smiling, remembering those times)...Here last birthday party her on earth at McDonalds.

"I'll lend you for a little time
A child of Mine." He said. "For you to love the while she lives And mourn for when she's dead. It may be six or seven year Or twenty-two or three But will you, till I call her back Take care of her for Me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you
And should her stay be brief, You'll have her lovely memories As solace for your grief.

I cannot promise she will stay Since all from Earth return, But there are lessons taught down there I want the child to learn. I've looked this wide world over In my search for teacher's true, And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes, I have selected you; Now will you give her all your love, Nor think the labour vain Nor hate Me when I come to call And take her back again?

I fancied that I heard them say, "Dear Lord, They will be done, For all the joy Thy child shall bring, For the risk of grief we'll run. We'll shelter her with tenderness, We'll love her while we may, And for the happiness we've known, Forever grateful stay. But should the angels call for her Much sooner than we planned, We'll brave the bitter grief that comes And try to understand."
NEVER FORGOTTEN

PB Crave is a Twist on Peanut Butter 3 Jar Giveaway / Review $20.97

Did you know you can help change the world by enjoying Peanut Butter?

But, not just any Peanut Butter!

Did you know.....?

This company thinks outside the box when it comes to Peanut Butter and fun, flavorful combinations....

Did you know this company has a passionate heart?

They donate a minimum of 2% of their profits from every jar sold to Project Peanut Butter.

Project Peanut Butter is a non-profit organization focused on treating malnourished children.

Do you know who I am "craving", I mean talking about??

All PB Crave's twisted 4 flavors are made with only the finest, all-natural peanut butter and pure honey (MEL-O honey).

So are you wondering what makes someone Crave, PB Crave?   I was asking myself that question until I had the opportunity to sample all for flavorful varieties of PB Crave (and one very lucky person is going to enjoy a PB Crave Variety Pack, a $20.97 Value).

Before I describe these life altering flavor combinations, I must share something.

The founder of PB Crave, Curt Riess reminds me so much of myself.  Curtis did not like peanut butter as a child.  I also did not like peanut butter as a child and traditional peanut butter is still far from my favorite....until.....

I sampled my first spoonful of All Natural PB Crave (after stirring up the goodness to incorporate all the premium ingredients).  Which by the way, is Cholesterol Free, No trans fat or hydrogenated oil, and Gluten Free.

So which of the four flavors did I try first?

Cookie Nookie?  Or maybe CoCo Bananas?  How about Razzle Dazzle?  Or Choco Choco?

Yes, my chocolate fanatic self sampled Choco Choco PB Crave first.  What a gourmet combination of peanut butter, wild honey, sweet and dark chocolate!  The chocolate chips were so cute and small.   PB Crave Choco Choco was delightfully smooth, rich and creamy.  It is very easy to spread.  The tiny chocolate chips just melt in your mouth and incorporate into the peanut butter like a dream.  I enjoyed the hint of salt in the background.  It helped mellow out some of the sweetness.

I was smiling when I opened the safety sealed jar of PB Crave CoCo Bananas.  The smell of fresh bananas greeted my nose and the nose of my boys.  They figured out what I was up to in the kitchen and couldn't wait for their samples of "fun peanut butter".

I could feel my corner of my lip start to twitch as I stirred up all the banana goodness.  I felt Elvis's presence...I know he would love CoCo Bananas!  Peanut butter, wild honey, chocolate and natural banana flavors.  Yum!  This is my favorite to enjoy in moderation as it is very rich and sweet.
I know what a fun and crazy name....PB Crave Cookie Nookie.  There is no doubt why PB Crave selected this name.  First of all the color of Cookie Nookie reminds me of my homemade chocolate chip cookie dough.  The aroma made me envision a chocolate chip cookie with a splash of peanut butter in the dough.  Another success, especially according to my oldest son.  He kept asking for more Cookie Nookie to enjoy with fresh strawberries.
The PB Crave Razzle Dazzle had the strongest fruit flavor, aroma and thickness.  It was chocked full of white and dark chocolate which married perfectly with the natural raspberry flavor, wild honey and premium peanut butter.  I can't wait to make peanut butter balls of this coated in dark chocolate or just plain on a nice warm piece of toast.
As you can see by my photos, everyone in our house enjoyed all the flavors of PB Crave for dipping with shortbread cookies and strawberries.  What a perfect and healthy evening snack.

It shows with each and every bite or lick of PB Crave that passion drives their products and business.  Perfection in a jar and love in their hearts.  They inspect every jar by hand; what pride to help ensure such high standards.

So who wants to enjoy their own PB Crave Choco Choco Variety Assortment?

Enter below for your chance to win and enjoy 1 Jar Choco Choco, 1 Jar Cookie Nookie, 1 Jar Razzle Dazzle.

Gak 101 recipe and The Clorox Lounge and The Last Comic Sitting Contest

I was thinking the other day (actually laughing).  Wow, I have done some pretty crazy (or stupid) things trying to save money.  Anyone who is a Mom, I am certain can relate.  It always seems like pay day is never going to come and even when it arrives, the check is already spent on bills, bills and more bills.

But, even when money is tight I always enjoy a great recipe, especially if it transforms into something fun and gross for my three boys to enjoy and play with.  I have made homemade play dough many a times, which is loved by them all.  If I would have known how my next science experiment was going to turn out (or not); I should have just quit with the play dough and called it good (no not just good, but great).
So, who wants to hear how this fateful and frugal “recipe” backfired with my boys?

Before I give the punch line to my recipe madness, I want to share another place everyone should go check out for a lightening of your parental hearts.

The Clorox Lounge is the place to go.  I love this fun and light hearted online stop for all Moms out there.  The Lounge is hosted by Sherri Shepherd.  She is mom, just like you and I, plus a very funny comedian and actress.  I truly have been enjoying the fun contests, fabulous giveaways (win $10,000 in the Last Comic Sitting Sweepstakes!), anecdotes, gut busting laughs like the Ode to the Commode campaign and coupons (any frugal mom like me…LOVES coupons).

Okay, I have my courage up to share my Family Frugal Fiasco.  Drum roll pleasssse…..

First let me start with the faitful recipe for Gak.  Yes, the word Gak now sends shivers down my spine.

All you need for this simple recipe is some white glue (school glue), water, borax soap and food coloring.
Place 8 oz. of white glue into a mixing bowl.

Add 8 oz. of warm water into the bowl with the glue.

Stir the water and glue together with a spoon until it smooth.

Mix 1/2 cup warm water and 1 tsp. borax in a small cup or bowl.  Stir until the borax dissolves.

Pour 1 tbsp. of the borax solution into the mixing bowl with the glue/water mixture. Stir it together with a spoon until it starts to thicken.

Continue to add the rest of the borax solution to the mixing bowl 1 tbsp. at a time. Make sure to continuously mix the ingredients with the spoon while adding each tablespoon of the borax solution.

Stop adding the borax once the Gak reaches the consistency you want. The more borax you add, the firmer it becomes.

After your Gak is how you and your children like it add a small amount of food coloring to add some flare.  The key word is small amount!!!

Well, being a mom who sometimes over does it with my children….a small amount of food coloroing has got to be good, but a big amount will definatly be better and brighter and cooler to play with, right???

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!

Of course I picked gross, grusesome green to be the festive color of our very inexpersive (cheap) Gak.  Let’s just say my boys were excited and thrilled at the chance to play with their gak.  They thought it was so yucky and gross and cool!  I was the best mom in the whole world at that moment of Gakeyness.
It felt so good to be loved by my boys.  They were so occupied by the world’s best homemade gak that I left the room to do some laundry and wash dishes.  Oh, did I forget to mention they were at the kitchen table playing.  And….the diningroom floor under our kitchen table is light colored carpeting….

I already hear the gasps and snickers from all you mom’s out there.

There I was busy doing the dishes and enjoying listening to my boy’s squeals and laughter.  What a perfect and frugal day! Until……..

Dun’t, Dun’t Daaaa…..
I walked into the dining room.  Did you know at that moment, I just wanted to curl up into a ball and start crying, but all I could do was laugh (for a very, very short time).  My darling boys decided to have a gak fight, with their BRIGHT GREEN gak.  There was gak everywhere!!!  It was on the walls, the floor ground into the light carpet and all over the boys.

At that point I knew, a little bit of food coloring would have been a MUCH, MUCH better idea!!  Note to self…DON’T forget that next time.

I spent the next four hours attempting to somehow transform my light colored carpet back into shape, instead of it looking like Ghostbusters had just exterminated a protoplasmic orb.

Okay, when you are all done laughing at my gak adventure…I would love to hear your Frugal Mom Experience that Back fired.
