Years ago I was lucky enough to spend some time in the Adirondack Region of New York State. It was so beautiful! Beautiful people....Beautiful Mother Nature....Beautiful Artisan Shops....Beautiful Everything!
I long to go back and visit the area. I am always on the look out for artisan businesses in the Adirondack region, just to make me still feel in touch with the area and people. I stumbled across Barkeater Chocolates on Facebook.
I read their Mission Statement, "Life Without GOOD Chocolate...What's the Point?"...I knew this was a Artisan Confections Business after my heart (covered in chocolate). I had to find out more.
Do you know how Barkeater Chocolates chose its name? Barkeater, a Mohawk Indian term, is named after the mountains they belong to. Nestled in the heart of the Adirondacks in North Creek New York – near the base of Gore Mountain ski area, mouth watering gourmet chocolate truffles are handmade using a European process in small batches in a variety of explosive flavors.
Using the highest quality chocolate and wholesome ingredients that are natural and often times organic ensures that each truffle from Barkeater Chocolates will produce a euphoric experience. Blends of the finest gourmet dark, milk and white chocolate flow together effortlessly and are rolled and coated to perfection with high-end chocolate. Soft ganache centers are a cut above the rest because they use only the highest grade of chocolate produced right here in the United States. Barkeater Chocolates does not use fillers to cut down on the purity of the truffle.
Barkeater Chocolates may be famous for their truffles but they have continued to evolve and produce gourmet Hot Cocoa Mixes, Gourmet Peanut Butter Cups and Nut Clusters just to name a few confections.
Barkeater Chocolates provided me with an amazing gourmet experience...sharing their 12 piece Autumn Truffle Collection and a Huge Paper Canister, 16oz Cinnamon Hot Cocoa Mix for my review.
I first have to smile and share some information I received with my Chocolate Lover's Autumn Care Package....a business card.....that said the following :)
"Please inspect your chocolates at once! These confections were made with care in small batches by humans."
"Tasting Guide
1. Always eat at room temperature - unless room temperature is 98 degrees or -20 degrees, in which case we advise you to call a heating/cooling professional.
2. Always enjoy with a friend or two, but only with those who exhibit self-control.
3. Never put the entire confection into our mouth at once. If you are incapable of this, cut the confections and freeze the unused portion. Do not lick the knife.
4. We are not responsible for any side effects should you ignore the first 3 rules."
I LOVE IT! A business that has fun, but knows how to create the best, most exquisite chocolates.
The 12 piece Autumn Truffle Collection some how captured Fall in each of the four flavors.
Yes, four amazing Fall flavors including:
Pumpkin Pie truffle; a creamy mix of white chocolate, pumpkin and the warm spices of pumpkin pie all rolled into one. This tasted just as I thought it would. The firm outer shell opened into a creamy, silky pumpkin pie explosion!
Cider Doughnut is a truffle delicately made with white chocolate, apple cider and a delicious mix of cinnamon and sugar. I am not sure how Barkeater Chocolates thought up this flavor combination...but it is amazing! I love it! The spices combined with the sweet white chocolate and tart apple cider was a bite of pleasure.
Browned Butter and Sage is a unique blend of rich dark chocolate and browned butter with just a hint of sage. Barkeater Chocolate leaves you wondering what the extra, something in these heavenly truffles is. The flavor profile is gourmet and original! Thank you for thinking outside of the box!
Adirondack Maple has the perfect blend of dark chocolate balanced with just a hint of maple. Nothing says Autumn better than these Maple delights. YUMMMM!
I can't believe I am typing this...but I have never thought to add Cinnamon to my Hot Cocoa before....That is until I have tried Barkeater Cinnamon Hot Cocoa Mix.
It was so dark and rich and spicy with Cinnamon! It was a flavor experience. I love ending my evening with a mug of this soothing goodness.
