Sticky Fingers' Sweets Cookbook Vegan Recipes Giveaway / Review $27.50 Value

I have a confession to make.....

I am truly a foodie in every aspect of my life and my children's lives.

I sleep, eat, play, watch, work, etc....and some how my mind is always on food....foods...and more food!

I am so addicted even my television is beginning to think all that is on tv is food related programs, especially the Food Network.  One of my current favorite shows is Cupcake Wars.

Every time their is a new winner, I am busy googling and trying to find out more about the Chef and their passionate business.

That is how I "googled" Cupcake War winner Doron Petersan.....and found .......

Her amazing cookbook:  Sticky Fingers' Sweets - 100 Super-Secret Vegan Recipes.

Wow, I am in awe that Doron Petersan opened her business Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats only back in 2002.  Look how far she has come in such a short time.

I was honored being sent her excellent cookbook to review and giveaway one copy!

I just want to say, don't let the word Vegan scare you.  It is not all that different and makes amazing recipes even better.  I love how Doron Petersan has opened up her life and cherished recipes for all to understand and create themselves in the comfort of our homes in a fun way.

Sticky Fingers' Sweets cookbook is very easy to read and navigate.

Included in this book:

Chapter 1: The Basics
Chapter 2: Favorite Cakes
Chapter 3: Sticky Fingers' Signature Cupcakes
Chapter 4: The Tifecta (The Three Recipes That Build This Bakery)
Chapter 5: Cookies
Chapter 6: Muffins, Breads, and Scones
Chapter 7: Brownies
Chapter 8: Making Whoopie
Chapter 9: Fab and Fruity Pies and Cheesecakes
Chapter 10: We've Got Seoul

I think the most important fact that was discussed in Chapter 1 was...

"You have to measure accurately and consistently every time.  Here at Sticky Fingers, we measure as little as possible.  "What the heck do you, mean Doron?  That makes no sense."  What I mean is that we weigh everything above 1 ounce and only use imperial measurements (you know, cups and spoons) for those small, pesky (yet important) "micro" ingredients.  Weight is where it's at in baking and where the true consistency lies."

As you can tell by the quote I took directly from Sticky Fingers' Sweets, you can and will learn a lot, but it is also a pleasure to read.  How many cookbooks can you say that about?

I enjoyed the little bits of information placed throughout the book amongst the flavorful recipes called "Love Bite"....read the funny one I found on page 192 (oh, did I forget to mention this cookbook has a whopping 288 pages!)

"Love Bite.......Mixing Burns Calories.....Unless you pick up a 1940s guide to homemaking, you probably won't see a source for the number of calories burned during ironing, baking, or martini-making.  But rest assured, your mixing is a calorie absolver, which will redeem itself during the last steps in recipe-making: indulging."

If you are new to Vegan baking don't worry....listed in the ingredients in each recipe are recommendations for certain Vegan products, like "non-hydrogenated vegan margarine".  If you are like me...SAY WHAT?  Just keep reading, "recommended: Earth Balance".  Yes, now it all makes sense.

Are you wanting to know what these Sweets can actually look like...Just flip to the center of the cookbook to ooogal over the centerfolds....

All in color and right in your face!!!  Oh, and keep flipping there are more towards the back!

Everyone....come follow me and learn with the help of Doron that you will not miss a thing with her Vegan recipes...actually it will leave you wanting to come back and bake more and more and more!

Who wants to win Sticky Fingers' Sweets for yourself?  Worried you may not win?  Don't worry you ca purchase your own copy on Amazon and many other online retailers or stop at your local book store and see if it is on the shelf.

Good Luck Everyone and Happy Baking.

  10. I lived in Woodbridge, VA until 2005 and we used to go to Sticky Fingers Bakery every other weekend! They made the most amazing cinnamon rolls, Little Devils and Cowvins! We moved to Minnesota and I have yet to find a vegan bakery to match the talents of Doran!

  14. While not a vegan, I have a dairy allergy that was discovered in my late 20s. While I had no problem giving up cheese, I have a CRAZY sweet tooth and was distraught over loosing cakes, cupcakes, cookies. At the time, I was living in DC and thankful someone told me about Sticky Fingers Bakery. I was nervous at first, not being a vegan. Then I took my first bite. And there was no going back. I loved to buy treats from there and give them to dairy-friends, not telling them until after they tried it that was they were raving over were vegan goodies! However, my days of living in DC are done--I'm now in Germany--and no vegan treats in sight! I have to learn how to bake on my own, and while there are great resources on the web, nothing compares to Sticky Fingers. I would LOVE to have the cookbook to not only make wonderful delights for me to enjoy, but to also make them to share with others, thereby introducing folks to the wonderful world of vegan baking (and make vegan baking not so foreign or scary).
