Ben's Sugar Shack Limited Edition Grade B 1 Qt. Maple Syrup Giveaway/Review Supporting National Breast Cancer Foundation

I enjoy seeing the American Dream come true!
I love seeing our younger generations having goals, pride and an excellent work ethic which evolves into success.

Can you believe a 23 year old with a passion since the age of 5 years old...now has two sugar house....a variety of maple products and is still expanding his business!

All it took was one visit to a maple sugar house on a field trip in preschool...Yes, preschool...for this driven child to know that he was going to make syrup.  He told his Dad all about this positive experience and his ideas.  The very next day the process stated.  This father and son created their own homemade evaporator and hug only 13 sap buckets.

In the first year less than one gallon of syrup was made.  It may have been a slow start, but it didn't discourage this young boy.  Ten years later Ben at the age of 15 won the Maple Producers Carlisle Trophy for the best syrup in New Hampshire!

Ben continues to set goals and hopes to open up a pancake house within the next five years where families and friends can come enjoy his delicious syrup in a cozy setting.

Ben is hard working and wants to ensure customer satisfaction with his business Ben's Sugar Shack.

I was delighted to find such a driven person that also cares about worthy causes.

Ben has partnered with the National Breast Cancer Foundation to help spread knowledge and foster hope in the fight against breast cancer. The National Breast Cancer Foundation’s mission includes increasing awareness through education, providing diagnostic breast care services for those in need, and providing nurturing support services.

This is a cause dear to Ben's heart because some of his immediate family and close friends are breast cancer survivors.
Ben will donate $2.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for every jug sold of  his Maple Syrup 1 Quart Jug Special Limited Edition.

By joining this cause, you will help provide women with the help for today and hope for tomorrow.  "Because life if sweet!"

For more information on this charity or to become further involved, please visit www.nationalbreastcancer.org.

Ben was sweet and sent me a Qt. of his Limited Edition Breast Cancer Foundation Jug of Grade B Maple Syrup to sample and review.  He is also going to give one of my very lucky bloggy friends a jug of their own to enjoy!

I couldn't wait to try Ben's Sugar Shack Maple Syrup upon removing the seal from the jug.  I was greeted with a soothing maple scent with caramel undertones.

It poured so smooth, showing off its rich amber color.  It has the caramelly essence of rich maple syrup.  The quality and care put into this recipe is akin to the care put into a finely crafted bourbon.  The two share the similar color and richness and both are exceptionally palatable.

Pouring Ben's warmed syrup over a stack of pancakes topped with a pat of butter and accompanied by a hot cup of coffee would make anyone picture themselves enjoying the Fall foliage of the northeast at breakfast time. (or anytime, with syrup this good).

I be honest...I had to look around Ben's site to learn more about Grades of Maple Syrup.  Here is what I found....

Grade A is not any better in quality than Grade B. it is just about your personal preference. The darker the syrup, the stronger and more “mapley” the flavor. The clarity and color of maple syrup depends on a variety of factors including weather, length of storage, and methods of processing, including gathering, boiling, and filtering.

Grade A Medium Amber is the most popular grade sold because it is most like the imitation maple-flavored syrup sold in supermarkets. Many people now prefer Grade B for table syrup, which is traditionally used for cooking because it has the strongest maple flavor.

Giveaway 3 Artisan Pizza and Flatbread in Five Minutes a Day Cookbook Review / Giveaway

Who reading this loves to eat?
Who loves to cook?

Who loves pizza?

Who loves pizza, but never feels like their Homemade Pizza stacks up to your favorite pizzeria?

Well I can fix that!!!

Thanks to a cookbook I have recently had to chance to review...prior to its store
release on Oct 25, 2011.

From the Bestselling authors of Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day
Jeff Hertzberg, M.D. and Zoe Francouis.

It truly shows how much these authors love pizza and the art of creating the best out there (in only 5 minutes!)

First a little about the authors so you can understand how they are able to put together such a useful and easy to understand cookbook.

Jeff Hertzberg is a physician with 20 years of experience in health care as a practitioner, consultant, & faculty member at the University of Minnesota Division of Health Informatics. His interests in baking & preventive health sparked a quest to apply the techniques with cookbooks.

Zoë François is passionate about food that is real, healthy, & always delicious. She is a pastry chef trained at the Culinary Institute of America. In addition to teaching baking & pastry courses nationally, she consults to the food industry & is the creator of the recipe blog www.zoebakes.com.

I want to stress how easy this book is to follow.  It is able to reach out and inform the reader how you can learn to create the pizza, better than anywhere you can purchase a premade one.  It educates you step by step by step and explains the reasons and thoughts behind each piece necessary to make a 5 minute pizza.

Did you know the most important part of the entire process is mixing up enough dough and storing it in the fridge to use later.  What a basic and simple thought...which in turns speeds up the pizza making process.

And if you need a little motivation that you can do this...look at these amazing and beautiful color photos in Artisan Pizza and Flatbread in Five Minutes a Day!
Now if that doesn't make you feel creative and want to make your own homemade pizzas and flatbreads...I am not sure what would.

You can find out more about these talented authors by following them on Facebook.

Now on to the Giveaway!!!

Enjoy Life Not Nuts Trail Mixes Review Peanut and Nut Free

First I want to say:
I LOVE ENJOY LIFE PRODUCTS!!!!

No, I wasn't paid to say that.  I truly love "Enjoy Life" and all what they stand for and create.

What an amazing company which continues to strive to be:

gluten-free

Enjoy Life™ is proud to be gluten-free! Learn what it means to be gluten-free and how our foods are the perfect solution for the gluten-free lifestyle.

allergy-friendly

Enjoy Life™ foods are specially made to be free of all common allergens, but certainly not taste! Learn more about our allergy-friendly treats and what we keep out.

I have had the chance to try some of Enjoy Life's products in the past including:
Enjoy Life Crunchy Cookies    and
Enjoy Life Double Chocolate Crunch and Semi-sweet Chocolate Mega Chunks.

And now Enjoy Life has graced me with the opportunity to sample two of their Not Nut Trail Mixes and review.  And yes it is possible to create a delicious and filling Trail Mix without Nuts.

My favorite hands down with the Mountain Mambo  It was packed full of Raw Sunflower Kernels, Roasted Hulled Pumpkin Seeds, Raisins, Dried Apples, Chocolate Chips and Cranberries.  What an excellent combination.  I love the crunch of the seeds and the hint of saltiness.  The sweetness of the chocolate chips, raisins and apples make this the prefect treat and satisfying snack.  The cranberries tied the whole mix together.  They were perfectly moist and sweet, yet tangy.  YUMM!  I dare you to just eat one handful.

The Beach Bash was enjoyed by my boys.  They loved the combination of Raw Sunflower Kernels, Pineapple, Roasted Hulled Pumpkin Seeds, Cranberries and Apricots.  And the best part is, this mix and Mountain Mambo is a safe snack for school.  Beach Bash was not my favorite as I found the pineapple too sweet.  But I am not a huge fan of dried pineapple.  But I must say I did try it and Enjoy Life selected dried pineapple that was not grainy, which was nice.  As from past experiences, most dried pineapple is very grainy and not appealing.  I tried it without the pineapple and enjoyed the addition of apricots.  They added a great chew and sweet/tartness.  Which I love that combination.

Thank you Enjoy Life for Making a Huge Difference in many peoples lives! You can get your own Enjoy Life products in at natural food stores and conventional grocery stores thought out the U.S. and Canada + 15 Online Retailers .

Just Good Chocolate Nibblers, Organic Super Food Giveaway / Review Tart Cherry Almond, Wild Blueberry Walnut and Zante Currant Pecan Cacao

One of my favorite things about blogging is finding new and upcoming businesses/products to feature. I love being a part of getting fresh and fantastic food products out via social media.

I have found an amazing Organic Chocolate Company in its infancy.  A Chocolate Company who thinks with their minds, hearts and taste buds.  A company that strives to someday operate a rural, wind and solar powered bean to bar chocolate factory in Leelanau County, Michigan.

Just Good Chocolate! (Nibblers)

Just Good Chocolate sent me a flavorful, unique and healthy Super-food sampler pack with a great sticker to taste and review.  They are also going to provide one of my lucky bloggy friends three bags of their own Just Good Chocolate Cacao Nibblers (Zante Currant Pecan, Tart Cherry Almond and Wild Blueberry Walnut) and stickers.

I just want to say if you are expecting a melt in your mouth, smooth and creamy chocolate experience Nibblers are not for you.  If you are looking for something totally out of the box, something unique and special like nothing you have ever tried before....Just Good Chocolate Cacao Nibblers are for you and you are going to LOVE them.

Before I share with you my thoughts, I think I need to explain what Cacao is:

Cacao was first cultivated by the Olmecs at least 1500 BC in Central America. The cacao bean was common currency in Mesoamerica before the Spanish Conquest. It is essentially chocolate at its core – before any processing has been done, and before anything has been added.  Theobroma Cacao (or cocoa tree) produces cocoa beans, which are dried and fermented, then shipped off to major chocolate companies for roasting and processing into the chocolate you’re used to seeing near the counter of your favorite grocery store.  Cacao is grown in countries that lie close the equator, many of which are 3rd world and as result have poor labor practices (hence the need for fair trade oversight).

Just Good Chocolate Tart Cherry Almond Cacao Nibblers created such an explosion in my mouth. The nutty crunch of the almonds, complimented the bitterness with coffee under tones of the crunchy cacao beans and the soft, chewy fresh tartness of the cherries married perfectly. I really liked the similar sizes of all the pieces...which allow for a well blended combination of all the ingredients.
Yes, each of the three flavors are a simple combination of crushed Cacao beans, nuts and dried fruit. A perfect balance of mother natures flavors and textures. A healthy combination of super foods convenient to carry around and enjoy.

Just Good Chocolate Wild Blueberry Walnut Cacao Nibblers are beautiful. The wild blueberries are so tiny and yet retain softness and a burst of blueberry flavor. The walnuts are slightly bitter and drying in your mouth, but the blueberries help cut through the dryness. And then you add the crunchy cacao bean pieces...very complex, satisfying and enjoyable.

Just Good Chocolate Zante Currant Pecan Cacao Nibblers is the sweetest Nibbler currently offered by Just Good Chocolate. The Currants are tiny and soft with natural sweetness. The small pieces of pecans blend in to help tame the sweetness of the currants and enhance the bitterness of the cacao beans. What a well rounded snack food. I can't wait to try some over my morning yogurt.

Did you know? Did you know that cacao is a super food? Yep. A super food that can be used in multiple ways and create lots of delicious foods! Chocolate, of course is the most famous – and arguably the most pleasing to the taste buds. Cacao beans though (the cacao nibs in Just Good Chocolate Nibblers are just crushed up beans) are extra-healthy when minimally processed. Combine them with the fruits and nuts that are paired them with, and now they taste great too!

Now on to this Fantastic Giveaway thanks to Just Good Chocolate.....

American Family's Insurance "Stand up to Family" is so Funny! Don't miss out.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of American Family Insurance for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love taking a minute or two out of a busy day to find something quick to make me smile and laugh.  Most days I feel like I have that opportunity with my three boys, as they are always up to something…something only little ones can think up and accomplish.

If my boys aren’t around or we are having one of “those days” I have found an excellent, safe place to go online and get a laugh or two or more.  And even if my boys are in the same room, this site is Family Friendly.  American Family Insurance has worked with five amazingly funny comedians to provide a wide selection of short clips to turn your frown, upside down.

AmFam (American Family’s) Stand Up For Family needs to come with a warning….that you sides may hurt after viewing, your eyes may tear, and you may even hear a snort or two.  I love the choice in comedians: Bill Bellamy, Rodney Perry, Mark Viera, Donnell Rawlings and Tony Roberts.   So if you don’t like one’s style to can click on to another and see if he is a fit for you and your family’s sense of humor.

It is difficult for me to pick my favorite, but I think it would have to be Donnell Rawlings, “Let Me Ride Your Bike”.  The part where he describes a fried bologna sandwich is hilarious!  The way he describes how the lunch meat tents up when cooking, is so true.

I will never forget as a child on how my mother would always add tuna fish to scrambled eggs to help fill us up.  I know what a strange combination.  Well, the first time I tried to make this gourmet meal, it didn’t work out at all.  Can you say, “Green Eggs and Ham”?  Yes GREEN…Warning…Warning if you add tuna fish to scrambled eggs before they set up, everything will turn green.  It still tastes the same if you can get by the color, but I am not sure how you get by Green Eggs and Tuna Fish.

I hadn’t thought of that experience in my years.  Thank you American Family Insurance for reminding me of some funny family experiences as a child.  And also thank you for providing a stress free place to go and get a laugh (and my children).

Kauffman's Fruit Farm & Market Jam, Pumpkin and Apple Butter Review

Kauffman's "Bird-In-Hand Brand" Orchard Products have been recognized and enjoyed since the early 1900's. Founder Amos L. Kauffman planted the first fruit trees in 1911, and today the 3rd, 4th, & 5th generations operate the business. Their warehouse and country market are located in the heart of Pennsylvania's Dutch Country.

Nearby orchards produce over 135 varieties of tree fruits on 100 acres and are managed with a visionary focus that watches changing consumer needs and national market conditions.

I continue to be delighted seeing the wide selection of products and produce Kauffman's carries...including apples, cider, cookbooks, honey, maple syrup, nut butters, jams, jellies......  You can purchase many of these items directly off of the Kauffman's website.

Kauffman's was gracious and sent me three different product to sample and review.

Since the Holidays are right around the corner I am first going to talk about Kauffman's Pumpkin Butter.  It was so smooth and creamy.  I was happy to see only 5 very simple ingredients go into making each and every jar...Pumpkin, Apple Cider, Sugar, Lemon and Cinnamon.  Kauffman's have some how captured the essence of Thanksgiving in a jar.  I felt like I was enjoying pumpkin pie without all the work.

I have never heard of Pumpkin Butter before, but I know I will never forget it now.  **They also offer a sugar free version**

Kauffman's Apple Butter Spread with Sugar & Spice was lovely and simple.  Four delicious ingredients are used to create this flavorful spread Fresh Apples, Apple Cider, Sugar and Cinnamon.  I enjoyed the rich color and thickness of Kauffman's spread.

I enjoy having a piece of toast with Kauffman's Apple Butter Spread with Sugar & Spice on a cool fall morning.

Cherry Jam...yummmmm.  I love cherries and now I love Kauffman's Cherry Jam! Simple...Sugar, Cherries, Water, Pectin, Citric Acid.  It tasted fresh and full of flavor.  I really enjoyed how the cherries were chopped up so it was easier to spread and enjoy.

I also like to use this as a vanilla ice cream topping.

Thank you Kauffman's for creating such flavorful and simple food products, right here in the USA!
