Salem Baking Co. / Dewey's Bakery Review and Giveaway - $17 Value *Featured on Oprah

I was lucky enough a while ago to win a excellent Gift Basket via a blog giveaway from Gourmet Gift Baskets.com.  It included a small package of Parmesan Artichoke Garlic Cheese Biscuits from the Salem Baking Co.

I was pleasantly amazed at how unique and tasty these dainty biscuits were.  I went online and located Salem Baking Co.  Their main page showed some of their Moravian cookies were featured on Oprah's Holiday Gift Selection's.  Salem's Baking Company's artisan baking hertiage dates back to 1930.  Their bakery is located in the foothills of  North Carolina.  They specialize in time honored recipes and distinctive products which are baking in the homemade tradition using the finest, all natural ingredients from around the world.

Salem Baking Co. was nice enough to provide me with two of their specially crafted treats to try out and review.  They have offered to giveaway these two products to two of my bloggy friends (see below for further details).  I want to start by saying I was shocked at the great care that was taken to ensure these products arrived on my door step in perfect condition.  They were packaged carefully in a cold type wrapping with two small ice bags.  Wow!!

The first tasty, savory treat I sampled was Salem Baking Co. Classic Cheddar (Aged Sharp Cheddar) Cheese Biscuits.

These crunchy but not hard petite cheesy biscuits had a pleasant surprise with its flavor.  I noted a hint of "heat" and saw on the list of ingredients the final addition was habanero chili powder.  The added ingredient really helps to enhance the flavor of the cheddar cheese and make you wonder what else in rounding out this exquisite biscuit.

I enjoyed these biscuits straight out of the bag.  They are perfect for awakening palates before dinner or as an enhancement to soups or salads. 

I saved the Moravian Chocolate Dipped Spice Cookies for last, after my boys went to bed so I didn't have to share.

These are the perfect sweet delight after a meal or a late night indulgence.  Salem Baking Co. has combined the finest most cherished, yet healthful, ingredients from around the world  to create their Legendary Spice Cookie.  These cookies feature Asian giner, cloves from Madagascar and allspice from Jamaica + they are dipped in premium dark chocolate. 

What a perfect marriage of flavors and you don't have to feel so guilty about this indulgence.  As both ginger and dark chocolate have documented health benefits.  Plus five of these wafer thin delights only contain 160 calories.  My biggest problem was stopping at just five cookies. 

Salem Baking Company has worked wonders with these cookies as they as so thin, but are not over powered by the elegant dark chocolate.  The spices are also not over powering, but balanced to leave your taste buds wanting more.
